Core Courses
A. Our goal is for our students to gain a deep understanding of various social scientific theories of national development, explore the overall goals of national development from a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives, and translate these skills into the ability to design practical policies across fields.
B. We want our students to possess the ability to conduct independent research that integrates social science and legal research methods.
C. Our students will develop the ability to analyze in-depth issues related to contemporary Taiwanese society, economy, politics, law, climate change, and sustainable development and provide policy analysis, evaluation, and policy recommendations.
D. Our students will gain the ability to analyze current development issues in Mainland China across a variety of topics and domains ranging from social, economic, and political policy dimensions. They will learn to interpret policies and how they are implemented by the Chinese government.
E. Our students will learn the ability to analyze in-depth various issues facing cross-strait relations and to conduct policy analysis and propose policy recommendations.
F. Our students will learn theories of contemporary globalization and development issues, analyze geopolitical, economic, social, and technological risks and impacts, and provide policy analysis and concrete policy suggestions.
G. Students will become familiar with theories of cultures and engagement with an emphasis in cross-cultural dialogue.
H. Students will explore the historical trajectory of civilizational through the lens of development studies, focusing on changes on historical to contemporary times.
